Baotang Village is a small village to the east of the prefecture city.

With its back against the mountains and a river flowing by the side of the village, the villagers here not only cultivate fields but also engage in hunting and fishing, leading quite a prosperous life.

Adjacent to the northern mountains, there are several households, among which the most dilapidated one is the storage room of the wealthy Bai family in the village.

Although the Bai family is affluent, the storage room has been neglected for years. The straw on the roof is sparse, not even comparable to their own firewood shed.

At this moment, on the floor of this rundown house lies a person – it is Bai Shu, the eldest son of the deceased head of the Bai family.

When Bai Shu woke up, his whole body felt as if it had been crushed, sore and painful, with no strength at all.

This morning, he had just retired from Insect Star fleet.

However, before noon, while on the journey to meet the male insects, he encountered a surprise attack by the rebel army.

In order to protect the nearby larvae, Bai Shu used his own body to withstand the attacks of the photon cannon. He thought he was doomed to die, but to his surprise, he managed to survive.

However, the environment he finds himself in now doesn’t resemble a clean and bright hospital. Bai Shu carefully surveyed his surroundings…

He was lying on a pile of dry grass, with a roof made of mud and dried grass overhead. The room was filled with a heavy, musty smell of decay.

He couldn’t understand how a place like this, existed—it was like an undeveloped, primitive society.

Bai Shu lifted his hand, attempting to prop himself up. To his surprise, he discovered that this hand didn’t look familiar.

His robust and powerful biceps had vanished, replaced by a thin and weak arm, only half as thick as before.

Although each finger was covered with a thin layer of calluses, compared to his previous self, they seemed too delicate.

How did he end up with this weak physique? Bai Shu felt furious!

In the ZERG race, there were fewer males than females, with a roughly 1:10 ratio between males and females.

Under such an extreme numerical difference, male insects held a high status, while females undertook the majority of the work in society.

As a result, in the aesthetic standards of the insect society, an outstanding female insect not only needed to have a robust physique but also possess strong personal abilities.

At the very least, a mature female insect, especially one serving as a general in the Insect Star, had to be capable of shouldering the responsibility of supporting a family and providing a comfortable living condition for her male insect.

As a general himself, Bai Shu, an adult female insect with extremely high standards for herself, possessed an enviable and muscular physique.

He believed that having such a physique was a basic requirement for a female insect and warrior. Only with such a body could one protect their beloved male insect, win their favor, instead of being thin and weak like now.

Only those lower-level females who had given up on themselves would neglect their appearance like this.

Bai Shu struggled to get up, carefully observing his current body.

His proud eight-pack abs were gone, and his stomach was deeply sunken. The perfectly shaped chest muscles had turned into an unsightly row of ribs.

If it were just that, Bai Shu thought, it would be acceptable. However, when he tried to spread the beautiful golden and translucent wings on his back, he discovered that his pair of gorgeous wings had disappeared without a trace.

He immediately reached behind with his hand, but he didn’t feel the familiar cleft near the shoulder blades. His palm met with smoothness, and Bai Shu was on the verge of tears!

This wasn’t his body! He had turned into something monstrous!

While Bai Shu was contemplating where he was and what to do about becoming a monster, and whether the millions of points earned during his military service could solve these problems, the wooden door of the room slammed open with a kick.

Bai Shu was taken aback and saw a member of the insectoid race with a red mole in the center of their eyebrows walk in.

This insect looked like a male, with a hint of mockery on its face. Its appearance was even softer than all the males Bai Shu had seen before. It wore a flashy outfit that resembled both a robe and a dress, and its long hair was tied into a bun at the back of its head.

In the Insect Star, some males enjoyed dressing like this. They even applied makeup to look more distinct from the rough females, making themselves more eye-catching.

Bai Shu had never been fond of this type of male. He preferred males who were clean, natural, and unadorned.

Regardless, the being in front of him was still a male. Following the manners of a female, Bai Shu ignored the discomforting mockery on the other’s face and nodded slightly.

“Heh, slept for a whole day before waking up. Are you a pig?” The male spoke, his voice sharp and piercing, causing Bai Shu to slightly furrow his brows. A feeling of disgust instinctively rose in his chest.

He knew that some males had a high opinion of themselves and were impolite to females, but this one with such a disagreeable personality was the first.

“May I ask… who are you?” Bai Shu asked.

“Are you insane?” After hearing Bai Shu speak, the other person displayed a disgusted expression.

He stomped his foot and said fiercely, “What are you pretending for? Do you think you can avoid work like this? With your appearance, you don’t look like a proper ger. How could Li Sanlang be interested in you with his conditions?”

“He is a scholar, destined to pass the imperial examination and become an official. Abandon any hope of him, and honestly find a wild husband in a mountain village in the future!”

What ger… what scholar?

Bai Shu felt utterly confused, but a surge of indignant emotions suddenly rose in his chest, uncontrollably contorting his expression. Lunging forward, he was about to pounce on the male in front of him.

“What are you trying to do?” The other person retreated in panic, grabbed a wooden stick from the corner of the room, and struck Bai Shu hard.

Bai Shu didn’t react in time and took a hit. With his previous body, such a blow would have been nothing, but now he was extremely weak. The strike made him feel intensely uncomfortable, and for a while, he couldn’t get up.

“Hmph, don’t think you can escape by pretending to faint. You’ve been freeloading in my house every day without contributing anything. Don’t you have any shame?” The other person said, adding with disdain, “Don’t blame me for taking your betrothal. It’s Sanlang who doesn’t want you.”

“He told me before. Just the thought of being engaged to you makes him feel disgusted. He wishes I could marry him sooner.” After saying this, the person threw the wooden stick on the ground and left with a flourish.

Marry? Bai Shu lay on the ground, feeling dizzy and disoriented. He couldn’t quite process…

The one who just hit him was actually a female? With her delicate appearance, more fragile than a male, she even took away his engagement?

Bai Shu’s whole body ached, the spot on his waist where he was hit wasn’t the most painful; waves of inexplicable stabbing pain surged through his chest. At some point, tears from his face had made their way to the ground.

In a daze, he heard two people whispering not far from the courtyard. One was the female from before, and the other had a sharper tone.

“He’er, has Bai Shu, that b@stard, not gotten up yet?”

“Mother, he’s over there pretending to be unconscious. I think he’s gone mad this time. He even wanted to hit me just now!”

“What? This is outrageous! He didn’t hurt you, did he?”

“How could I be hurt by that useless guy? It’s just an empty threat. Now that I’ve gotten together with Li Sanlang, he’s probably going crazy with jealousy.”

“Still, you should be careful. After all, you’re a ger, and appearance does matter. If he disfigures your face, it would be troublesome.”

“Mother is right. Let Dad kick him out!”

“That won’t work. After all, we’re his only relatives, and your dad promised in front of the village chief to take care of him until he gets married. If we kick him out like this, our family will lose face in the village.”

“Then just find anyone to marry him off to. I’m afraid, with his current appearance, no one will be interested in him.”

“It’s not urgent. In a few days, I’ll go ask about that widower, Wang Gangfu at the village entrance.”

“Hahaha, the poor widower with three sons? He’s quite a match for Bai Shu…”

Bai Shu couldn’t hear the rest of the conversation. He had developed a high fever and began to dream.
